Minimalism and I

As some of you know, I am working towards my goal of minimalism. To me, minimalism means a lot, but alongside witchcraft, it can be difficult.

My definition of minimalism

To me, minimalism means not giving material things power over you and realizing that there is more to life than just stuff. Of course, this isn’t a permanent definition. I’ve learned that as I deepen my practice, my ideas and beliefs can change.

Why I chose minimalism

I chose to start minimalism because I had too much stuff, and all the stuff I had was stressing me out. Big time. All of that unnecessary stuff was just stressing me out. So, I did my research and found minimalism. The rest was history (added for dramatic effect)…

Minimalism in witchcraft

I know first-hand that as a witch you want to have everything, 22 different kinds of incense, all of the spices and essential oils, and candles in 100 colors. Not to mention the 5 decks of tarot and oracle cards!

But contrary to popular belief, in witchcraft, you truly only need one thing. You. This is a bit hard for me. I love my nick-nacks, but what are they doing for me?

As of late, I am not working on getting rid of my witchy supplies. In fact, I am just trying to limit what I bring in.  Instead of grabbing the shopping cart every time I want to do a spell, I try to bring myself back and say that I already have more than enough candles, incense, a couple of crystals, and sage.
