Before you get started in the craft, it’s a good idea to know what you are doing and what you are getting yourself into.

Why don’t we start off with a simple definition of witchcraft?

In its most basic form, witchcraft can be defined as ‘using energy to your will to manifest your desires.’

I know, I know. That is a very, very broad definition. The definition is broad because there is no one true way to practice witchcraft or be a witch, for that matter. There are so many different paths that you would have to write a book to define them all. Also, against popular belief, witchcraft is not a religion.

Similarly, you can use tools to help, such as tarot cards, athames, and crystals. Some witches prefer them, others prefer to work without them.  You can also work in a group called a coven, but others (like me) prefer to work alone. See, witchcraft is highly individualistic and no two witches practice the same.

Basically, there aren’t any true parameters for being a witch. You can be any gender, religion, race, etc. Just make sure you know what you are doing.

With that being said, witchcraft is not for everyone. It isn’t something you can do on and off again, it takes a certain amount of dedication and will.

Oh, and one more thing. Male witches are also called witches. Not warlock. In the witch community, warlock is seen as a derogatory term because it means ‘oath breaker.’

Good luck on your witchy path, my friends!
